ONA TRANSFER FORM - Surgery - General 
Regular Part-time, Job-Share, Temp Part-Time

Shifts: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, Extended Tours

 

 

PLEASE NOTE: ONA Transfer Forms are valid between January 1st and Dec 31st each year, therefore you must complete one each year to be included in this process.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
  • Current BLS certification (Level C)
  • Must have started Coronary Care Nursing 1 (or equivalent) within 1 year of start date
  • Must have current or recent clinical experience within the last 2 years in surgical nursing in an acute care setting
  • Demonstrated patient/family teaching skills
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality and availability
  • Demonstrates a commitment to quality and patient safety, as well as the safety of self and co-workers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources required for effective patient care and discharge planning
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively address / resolve issues including conflict in a respectful and productive manner
  • Demonstrated satisfactory performance of the following nursing skills:
    • Complex wound care/ Suture & staple Removal; experience with VAC dressings is an asset
    • Vascular Access skills
    • Stoma Management
    • Blood and blood product administration
    • Acute Pain Management strategies
    • Enteral and parenteral nutrition
    • Nasogastric tube and drain care knowledge
