162169-67 - ONA Transfer Form - RN - PT/JBS/TPT - Surgery - Day
PLEASE NOTE: ONA Transfer Forms are valid between January 1st and Dec 31st each year, therefore you must complete one each year to be included in this process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
- Current BCLS certification (Level C)
- Must have current clinical experience within the last 2 years in day surgery nursing.
- Must have current clinical experience within the last 5 years in general surgery nursing
- Proof of completion of Coronary Care Nursing 1 (or equivalent) within 1 year of start date
- Clinical experience with General Surgery, Gynaecology, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Dental, E.N.T., Paediatrics and Orthopaedics patient populations an asset
- Strong ability, knowledge and skill to provide patients and families with necessary preoperative and postoperative health teaching
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and effectively communicate abnormal diagnostics or lab values to appropriate healthcare practitioner
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively in an interdisciplinary team
- Demonstrated effective communication skills
- Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality and availability
- Demonstrated knowledge of monitoring and preparing patients for discharge postoperatively
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to function in a high-pace workplace

Demonstrated satisfactory performance and competency of the following skills:
- Documentation
- Medication Administration (Intravenous, oral and rectal)
- Establishment and maintenance of aseptic technique, application of sterile dressing, suture and clip removal
- Intravenous insertion, monitoring and discontinuing skills
- Urinary Catheterization and manual irrigation
- Oropharyngeal/Nasopharyngeal Suctioning
- Neurological Assessment
- Cast Care & Reapplication of Skin Traction
- Competency in performing systems assessment and vital signs
