PLEASE NOTE: ONA Transfer Forms are valid between January 1st and Dec 31st each year, therefore you must complete one each year to be included in this process.

EXPECTATIONS:
  • Employee will be required to provide a minimum of 48 hours of call time per month. It is expected that this availability will not conflict with the employees work obligations on their current unit; should this result the employee will be removed from the roster.
  • Ability and willingness to commit to orientation, ongoing training to maintain competencies of practice and specialized training to become a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (S.A.N.E.) after one (1) year of hire date.
  • Ability and willingness to commit to 48 hours of on-call time per month.
  • Ability to respond at the hospital within 30 - 45 minutes of being called.
  • Able to respond appropriately/supportively in a changing environment.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience and skill in adult venipuncture.
  • Current training and/or experience in general physical assessment skills and the ability to assess mental health status.
  • Experience and/or demonstrated ability in providing emotional/psychosocial trauma support and non-judgmental supportive care to survivors of sexual and domestic violence.
  • Experience and/or demonstrated ability to provide crisis counselling.
  • Knowledge, sensitivity and experience in dealing with issues of diversity.
  • Knowledge of women's health.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, expertise and commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork, community liaison skills and the ability to work as an independent practitioner.
