The Maternal and Child Program is currently seeking a Lactation Consultant (RN) to join their multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications:
- Current Certificate of Competence in the Province of Ontario from College of Nurses.
- Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant required.
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation is required.
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience with the Maternal Newborn population.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working as a lactation consultant.
- Preference will be given to candidates with current outpatient and clinic experience.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills and abilities.
- Demonstrated good working relationships with all members of the health care team.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be self-motivated and work both independently and part of a team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to Baby Friendly Initiative.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, critical thinking and oral/written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with women and their families in accordance with the philosophy of family-centered care.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
- Demonstrated clinical assessment and family/patient teaching skills.
- Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality and availability.
- Experience supporting families with breastfeeding.
