The Maternal and Child Program is currently seeking a Lactation Consultant (RN) to join their multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications:

  • Current Certificate of Competence in the Province of Ontario from College of Nurses.
  • Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant required.
  • Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience with the Maternal Newborn population.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working as a lactation consultant.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with current outpatient and clinic experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills and abilities.
  • Demonstrated good working relationships with all members of the health care team.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be self-motivated and work both independently and part of a team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to Baby Friendly Initiative.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, critical thinking and oral/written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with women and their families in accordance with the philosophy of family-centered care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
  • Demonstrated clinical assessment and family/patient teaching skills.
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality and availability.
  • Experience supporting families with breastfeeding.
