ONA TRANSFER FORM - Surgery - General (5S200) Status: Part Time, Job Share, Temporary Part Time Union: O.N.A Shifts: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, Extended Tours Posting Date: January 3, 2025 Closing Date: December 31, 2025

PLEASE NOTE: ONA Transfer Forms are valid between January 1st and Dec 31st each year, therefore you must complete one each year to be included in this process.

Qualifications:

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
• Current BCLS certification (Level C).
• Must have started Coronary Care 1 within 1 year of start date.
• Must have current or recent clinical experience within the last 2 years in surgical nursing in an acute care setting.
• Demonstrated patient/family teaching skills.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to function effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality and availability.
• Demonstrates a commitment to quality and patient safety, as well as the safety of self and co-workers.
• Demonstrated knowledge of community resources required for effective patient care and discharge planning.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively address / resolve issues including conflict in a respectful and productive manner.
• Demonstrated satisfactory performance of the following nursing skills:
  • Complex wound care/ Suture & staple Removal; experience with VAC dressings is an asset.
  • Vascular Access skills
  • Stoma Management
  • Blood and blood product administration
  • Acute Pain Management strategies
  • Enteral and parenteral nutrition
  • Nasogastric tube and drain care knowledge
