
ONA Transfer Form – RN – PT/JBS/TPT – Surgery - Day (199094-67)
PLEASE NOTE: ONA Transfer Forms are valid between January 1st and Dec 31st each year, therefore you must complete one each year to be included in this process.
Qualifications:
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BCLS certification (Level C).
- Must have current or recent clinical experience of at least 2 years in Day Surgery nursing.
- Must have current or recent clinical experience within the last 5 years in General Surgery nursing.
- Clinical experience with General Surgery, Gynaecology, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Dental, E.N.T., Paediatrics and Orthopaedics patient populations an asset.

Demonstrated satisfactory performance and competency of the following nursing skills:
- Competency in performing systems assessment and vital signs
- Comprehensive documentation
- Medication Administration (All routes)
- Establishment and maintenance of aseptic technique, application of sterile dressing, suture and clip removal
- Intravenous management
- Urinary Catheterization and manual irrigation
- Oropharyngeal/Nasopharyngeal Suctioning
- Neurological Assessment
- Cast Care & Reapplication of Skin Traction
- Demonstrated ability to provide patients and families with necessary health teaching.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and effectively communicate with the interdisciplinary team as required.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills.
- Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to function in a high-pace workplace.
