Responsibilities:
The Financial Planning & Analysis team provides operational and financial insight through the provision of timely and accurate information, presented in consumable formats for decision-making to the organization. We provide organizational expertise in the analysis, interpretation and integration of financial and clinical data and support the delivery of appropriate, cost efficient care in a financially constrained environment.
The Sr. Financial Consultant will work with the programs (EVPs, Directors, Managers), key strategic partners and their management teams to achieve and maintain effective financial management, control and strategic planning while working within the corporate policiesand procedures of JBH. The role will inform, guide and provide recommendations, they will also lead design and strategy.
The role is responsible for leading key strategic initiatives and projects, driving cost savings and optimization. These strategic initiatives may span across multiple programs, systems and processes. Lead the design and strategy of organizational change and will foster and maintain strategic partnerships. They will provide external environment oversight and be a subject matter expert of applicable external environment (i.e. MOH, Accounting Standards, OH West). Oversee business development and development of business cases, savings plans, revenue generation, and ROI (return on investment).
The preparation of operating budgets in collaboration with program leadership, incorporating:
- Peer Hospital benchmarking activities
- Volume & Activity Analysis, Forecasting based on Demographics and Business Development
- Review of actual versus expected costs align expenditures to funded performance, while maximizing quality service delivery tothe community served
Periodic (monthly, quarterly and annual) performance analysis, which includes:
- Detailed analysis of revenues by funding type and performance against targets
- Expenditures analysis identifying causes for variation from expected
- Labour cost analysis to budget and funded rates
- Capital expenditures
The role will be responsible for applying professional judgment and have a high degree of problem solving. They will be responsible for navigating complexities and nuances in the current environment. expected to problem solve. Be a key operational contact, in some scenarios the main operational contact, frequently engaging with operations on a breadth of issues within the organization.
The role will be responsible to collaborate and partner with operations, programs and external partners, to achieve a common goal or initiative. Be involved in integrated collaboration with multiple individuals within various disciplines, simultaneously.
The role is responsible for having impact, guiding solutions/decisions, driving results and having influence over change and structure. Identify process improvements to maximize revenue generating opportunities. Identify performance issues, undertaking a root-cause analysis and developing remedial actions with target dates. Internal and external (i.e. MOHLTC/LHIN, other agencies) program reporting in accordance with established guidelines.
Management and co-ordination of projects involving the Hospital and external stakeholders including but not limited to, assistance with analysis of various requests for proposals, costing initiatives, business case development, etc. Demonstrable business analysis skills in supporting business decisions by developing reports that enable better business decisions and ensuring business data and reporting needs are satisfied.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or Health Administration is required
- Minimum 5-7 years relavent Financial Planning, Analysis, Operational and business experience.
- Recent completion or enrolment in a senior level program leading to a professional accounting/Masters designation, asset
- Professional designation, CPA, PMP, CFA, asset
- Self directed with high level of accountability to motivate and focus on multiple tasks and projects
- Superior ability to organize, analyze and evaluate data, both quantitatively and qualitatively
- High proficiency using MS Excel, strong skillset in MS Office Suite and modern BI Tools
- Experience with data flows and modeling
- Capacity to build partnerships, work collaboratively and effectively communicated to diverse groups
- Strong, demonstrated interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skill swith all levles ofmanagement including Senior Executives
- Knowledge of Ontario Health Reporting Standards (OHRS)/MIS Guidelines certificate preferred;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage own time and take initiative;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and competing projects effectively.
