Position Summary:

Diagnostic Imaging requires a dedicated resource that can coordinate and evaluate operational and financial status that will enable the ability to more effectively manage wait time funding and activities of the materials management.

The Diagnostic Imaging & Medical Diagnostic Unit’s Performance Analyst coordinates and evaluates the operational as well as financial activities of materials management. This individual works collaboratively with the Director and Manager of Diagnostic Imaging & MDU, Radiologists, decision support, materials management/procurement, information technology and finance. The Performance Analyst identifies opportunities to enhance revenue through new volumes, cost containment (inventory and cost-per-case reduction), loss/waste control, enhanced utilization (labour, equipment and materials), or improved policies and procedures. The analyst coordinates and evaluates the program’s wait time reports and other required reports to support service excellence and continuous quality improvement. 

The role provides the DI & MDU program with continual financial and statistical data to review to enable operational excellence. The Performance Analyst is responsible for supply chain and inventory management system within Diagnostic Imaging and the Medical Diagnostic Unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops goals, objectives, policies and procedures for diagnostic imaging and MDU materials management, software and equipment that are in alignment with the hospital’s procurement practices.
  • Liaison between the Diagnostic Imaging and MDU program and decision support, finance, biomed, clinical informatics, information technology, materials and materials management and procurement departments.
  • Provides support for Diagnostic Imaging & MDU by maintaining working knowledge of and providing guidance for issues involving materials, instrumentation, software, equipment and repair/service contracts.
  • Supports materials management’s provision of cost and volume information to enable a value analysis process, including identification of cost effective alternatives, product evaluation, promoting product standardization, management of consignment/expired products and maximization of vendor and contractual agreements.
  • Provide open communication with the Manager and Director of the program, the diagnostic imaging and MDU teams and other internal program stakeholders to improve the operations and efficiencies within the Diagnostic Imaging and MDU program.
  • Develops a cost management program and culture in collaboration with the Manager.
  • Provides support to the Manager with strategic planning efforts for imaging services.
  • Participate on committees as assigned by the ManagerCo-ordinates, updates and submits wait time reports and other required reporting to Ontario Health (WTIS) and to the HNHBB Regional DI Steering Committee
  • Reviews and analyzes reports to identify to identify opportunities to reduce wait times and improve service
  • Co-ordinates funding submission requests in collaboration with the Manager, Director, Finance and Decision Support and monitors and updates the status to support reporting requirements to the Ministry
  • Updates WTIS with operational changes as approved by the Manager
  • Co-ordinates the completion of Ministry survey requests for the program/modality in collaboration with the Manager and respective Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a health related field and/or five years working in a healthcare setting with applicable medical imaging experience.
  • Previous experience in a case costing environment and with contract management
  • Previous experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and report writing and analysis
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast-paced environment in stressful situations.
  • Customer service, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner
  • Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment.
  • Working knowledge of Meditech, Radiology PACs, and Provincial Imaging Repositories.
  • Ability to maintain successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
  • Ability to self-direct work and organize time effectively to perform the duties of the position.
  • Behaviour consistent with Hospital Mission, Values and Standards of Performance.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate to perform the duties of the position.
  • Current knowledge of interventional procedures and diagnostic imaging operations
  • Organizational, problem solving, analytical, customer service and oral/written communication skills.
  • Must be able to function in a dynamic environment subject to impromptu changes in schedules and priorities.
  • Able to maintain a global perspective and see impacts and results beyond the traditional organizational walls

  • Demonstrates knowledge of budgeting principles including the ability to prepare and interpret financial reports and to develop business plans for capital equipment
